Joerg Koziol is an artist, artisan, and sculptor originally from Hamburg, Germany, now residing in the southwest of France. Driven by an innate need to create, he embarked on his artistic journey with a profound curiosity, eager to learn from diverse sources. His research delves into the process of making and experiencing materials, emphasizing the communication between matter and intuition. In 2019, Joerg dedicated himself to sculpture, primarily working with wood to explore abstract forms that convey complex emotions. He believes that energy is matter, matter is conscience, and only conscience is real, striving to materialize feelings and thoughts through his art.
Joerg Koziol’s creative process is an intuitive dialogue between material and emotion, where each sculpture emerges through a deep exploration of form and texture. Working primarily with wood, he allows the natural characteristics of the material to guide his hand, embracing its grain, density, and imperfections as essential elements of the final piece.
